. January 17, 2017

TAMPA, FL. January 17, 2017 - Mainsail Lodging & Development has promoted Evelyn Avazier and Wanda Sanchez to corporate director of training and corporate director of human resources, respectively.

Evelyn Avazier will expand her passion for staff development as the first-ever corporate director of training for Mainsail Lodging & Development. For over three years, Avazier has worked as director of human resources and training at the Epicurean Hotel, a Mainsail Lodging & Development property. Her new responsibilities will include pre-opening hiring and training for new hotels, along with ongoing training for Mainsail's existing hotel portfolio. Avazier will be based in the corporate offices in Tampa and will engage each of Mainsail's business units to fulfill the organization's commitment to training and development. With nearly 28 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Avazier came to Mainsail from Loews Hotels in Orlando, where she worked as training manager for more than seven years at the upscale Loews Portofino Bay Hotel.

As corporate director of human resources, Wanda Sanchez is also based in the corporate offices and will manage all human resource functions outside of training. Sanchez's new responsibilities include developing and managing all human resources needs and providing support to general managers for each of the business units, as well as regularly visiting the properties to interact with associates and support the teams. With over 14 years of experience in HR and an eight-year veteran at Mainsail in the human resources department, Sanchez has guided the team through numerous events and transitions as the company has evolved through the years. Before joining Mainsail, Sanchez served as director of human resources for Embassy Suites Tampa Airport for seven-and-a-half years. She will be supported in day-to-day operations by Vanessa Sarafin, who has been added to the team as human resources coordinator.

“As Mainsail Lodging & Development continues to grow, it's important we build a dynamic team of professionals that will ensure our success,” said Juli Corlew, vice president and managing partner of Mainsail Lodging & Development. “Evelyn and Wanda have already proven themselves invaluable to our training and human resources efforts and will no doubt set even higher standards in their new positions.”
