Grand Hyatt New York Appoints New Executive Sous Chef

Christian Clark Joins Food & Beverage Team at New York Central Restaurant

. August 18, 2016

NEW YORK, NY. August 18, 2016 - The iconic Grand Hyatt New York in Midtown Manhattan is pleased to announce the appointment of Christian (CJ) Clark as Executive Sous Chef. Clark has been with the Hyatt family for over 11 years, most recently serving as the Executive Sous Chef at Hyatt Times Square. In his new role, Clark will work with Chef de Cuisine Daron Lee to manage food and beverage operations as well as develop the menu and culinary offerings at the hotel's fine dining restaurant New York Central, which serves locally sourced and seasonally inspired dishes.

“We are excited to have someone as talented as Chef CJ Clark join the food and beverage team here at Grand Hyatt New York,” said Executive Chef Kevin Reardon. “Christian's creativity, passion and culinary expertise, as well as his long term growth within the Hyatt family, make him an incredible asset. We are looking forward to seeing him take New York Central and the rest of our food and beverage operations to new heights.”

Chef CJ Clark's deep appreciation for local American cuisine started at a young age growing up in Northern New Jersey. Surrounded by farmland, he learned the importance of working with farms and produce providers in the area to create local sustainable dishes that spoke of the seasons. Clark started his culinary journey with Hyatt in 2005 as a Culinary Supervisor at Hyatt Regency Morristown under Chef Lonnie Crowe where he quickly moved up the ranks to become Chef de Cuisine at the property's Eclectic Grill. After over eight years there, he went on to open Hyatt Times Square as Executive Sous Chef in 2013 under Chef Nick Pelliccione overseeing T45 Restaurant and Bar 54, the hotel's rooftop outpost. Chef Clark brings his creativity and innate passion for local sustainable cuisine to his new role as Executive Sous Chef at Grand Hyatt New York, helping to further develop the property's culinary offerings.

Chef Clark's cooking style can best be described as American French Fusion with a creative twist, utilizing the season's freshest ingredients from local farms. Utilizing a combination of his own cooking philosophy and Grand Hyatt New York's seasonal, upscale American bistro-style cuisine, Clark will add exciting and creative new dishes to New York Central's menu. In his free time, Clark enjoys spending time with his family and playing with his kids.

“I'm excited to further my career with Hyatt as part of the New York Central and Grand Hyatt New York team,” said Chef Clark. “My passion for local and seasonal cuisine is very much in line with the menu concept here at the property and I look forward to bringing my signature cooking style and creativity to help develop new dishes and guide the food and beverage offerings at the property into the future.”
