BANGKOK, TH. July 27, 2016 - Swiss hotel management company, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, has appointed Mr. Horst Walther-Jones as General Manager of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali.

The appointment is part of a recruitment drive across Asia that has already seen top industry talent take up positions at Mövenpick properties and corporate head office in the Philippines and Thailand as the hospitality brand expands in the region.

"We are delighted to welcome Horst as General Manager of our exciting new Jimbaran property," said Andrew Langdon, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Senior Vice President for Asia. "His extensive experience and proven track record in hospitality will help the team in Bali ensure that guests always experience Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts's high standards. He will also bring great new ideas and approaches to elevate the hotel's performance and reputation in Bali."

Mr. Walther-Jones hails from Germany where he began his career in hospitality as an apprentice and commis de cuisine before rising through the ranks to become Executive Chef and Director of Food & Beverage at Hyatt Cancun Caribe Villas & Resort in Mexico and later at the Hyatt Regency in Macau - China.

His first management role was at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai - United Arab Emirates where he became Executive Assistant Manager and Jumeirah Group Coordinator for Food and Beverage, before taking on the role of General Manager in March 2004 at Jumeirah Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa, also in Dubai.

After five more years with Jumeirah, Mr. Walther-Jones joined Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in 2009 as General Manager of the Mövenpick Hotel Al Nawras in Saudi Arabia. He stayed with the group, working in the Middle East for a further five years at the Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach Residences before setting his sights on a new challenge in Bali.

As General Manager, Mr. Walther-Jones will be driving a series of unique offerings at Mövenpick Resort and Spa Jimbaran Bali. The resort will provide arrival experiences and guest journeys, incorporating a comprehensive entertainment and education programme for guests of all ages. It will also be known for its family oriented activities, which include Balinese cooking classes, family cycling tours, wooden sculpture classes by local artists and family dance classes.

"Mövenpick Resort and Spa Jimbaran Bali is an integrated lifestyle destination offering lively surroundings for business and leisure stays," explained Mr. Walther-Jones. "It is also a place where families, couples and groups can discover a caring and personalized blend of Swiss hospitality and Balinese culture."

"I feel privileged to have the opportunity to manage such an impressive hotel in one of the world's most appealing and attractive destinations."

Mövenpick Resort and Spa Jimbaran Bali is set to open late 2016.
