Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino Goes Green

The One Happy Island's premier resort implements environmentally friendly initiatives

. July 20, 2016

PALM BEACH, AW. July 20, 2016 - Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino is proud to announce it has invested $3.8 million in energy saving and green projects that will help reduce the resort's impact on the environment. These new initiatives will cut the property's carbon monoxide production by 2,000 metric tons as well as eliminate 5,000 barrels of oil used on a yearly basis.

In its effort to go green, Aruba Marriott Resort upgraded all guest rooms to be equipped with modern energy-saving technology such as digital automatic thermostats, and LED lighting that adapts when rooms and parking lot are unoccupied.

The property has also added energy-efficient components such as a solar power hot water system, domestic water booster pumps to regulate water pressure, and energy recovery units that recycle guest room exhaust air, saving on electricity and air conditioning. Additional projects such as noise and heat-proof, double-pane glass windows and doors and a grey water filtration system that recycles zinc water for plant irrigation are set to be complete by the end of 2016.

“We are very proud to be putting these energy-saving updates in motion at the resort,” said General Manager, Tom Calame. “We're always looking for ways to improve not only the quality of our resort's amenities, but also the way the property functions as a whole for the benefit of our guests. It's important for us to make the investment now in order to achieve long-term sustainability.”

In addition to the resort's eco-friendly developments, its associates have committed to the ongoing involvement with Aruba's beach cleanups and the annual participation in Earth Hour, where all lights in the parking lot will be turned off for one hour.
