Indura Beach & Golf Resort in Honduras to Join Curio - A Collection by Hilton

. May 11, 2016

TELA, HN. and MCLEAN, VA. May 11, 2016 - Hilton Worldwide (NYSE: HLT) today announced the signing of Indura Beach & Golf Resort in Honduras to Curio - A Collection by Hilton™. Curio's global set of distinctive upscale and luxury hotels is hand-picked for travelers seeking local discovery and authentic experiences. The 60-suite Indura Beach & Golf Resort marks Curio's first property in Central America and is slated to join the collection in July.

The hotel, which opened in 2014, is part of a larger destination resort that will eventually include two to three hotels and 800 residential units. With 26 miles of the picturesque Tela Bay on the North coast of Honduras as its backdrop, and Jeanette Kawas National Park as its surroundings, Indura Beach & Golf Resort guests can take in the region's natural beauty by kayaking, horseback riding, snorkeling and bird watching.

“Curio's first property in Central America, and Hilton Worldwide's second property in Honduras, Indura Beach & Golf Resort is a fantastic addition to our portfolio,” said Ted Middleton, senior vice president, development - Latin America, Hilton Worldwide. “We look forward to continuing to provide what Curio guests are looking for: Hotels with character and personality in spectacular destinations around the globe.”

"Indura" is the Garifuna word for Honduras and the resort strives to incorporate the culture of the Garifuna people - descendants of Carib, Arawak and West African people - into its offerings, with local Honduran products and sustainable materials used in its 15 villas, which house a total of 60 suites.

The property is also home to the first championship 18-hole golf course in Honduras. Set on 1,800 acres, the golf course was designed by professional golfer Gary Player and is overseen by Troon Golf, the world's largest luxury golf management company. Over the weekend, the course hosted the PGA Tour Latinoamerica Honduras Open for the second consecutive year and plans to host the tournament again in 2017.

Indura Beach & Golf Resort's five eateries use local ingredients grown on site and recipes from South American cultures, including Garifuna. The signature restaurant, Bazul, serves locally inspired and sourced breakfast, lunch and dinner specialties. The property's Maina Spa also provides guests with a reflection of and immersion in the culture of Honduras in both design and treatments.

“Indura Beach & Golf Resort is a luxurious high-end resort in Honduras, and we are thrilled to partner with Hilton Worldwide,” said Camilo Atala, president of Fondo Hondureño de Inversión Turística. “Our relationship with Hilton will allow us to reach more guests looking for an authentic, unique and upscale Central American experience.”

The hotel's environmental commitment and luxurious amenities make it a highly sought-after location for meetings and events in Central America. With a state-of-the-art conference center, executive boardroom, ballroom and courtyards, Indura Beach & Golf Resort can accommodate groups of 10 to 400 people for conferences and events.

“With its commitment to the local community and surrounding ecological system, Indura Beach & Golf Resort fits seamlessly into the Curio Collection, as it prioritizes the importance of an authentic travel experience,” said Dianna Vaughan, senior vice president and global head, Curio - A Collection by Hilton and DoubleTree by Hilton. “The hotel's luxurious, thoughtful and environmentally conscious experience will set a strong precedent for future Curio properties as we continue to expand in the region.”
