Miraval Group Launches Expansion with New Spa at Monarch Beach Resort

. April 07, 2016

DENVER, CO. April 7, 2016 - Miraval Group today announced the kickoff of a nationwide expansion program with the opening of the first Miraval Life in Balance Spa at the five-star Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California.

Miraval Life in Balance Spa at Monarch Beach Resort is part of a $40 million renovation of the resort's 400 rooms and public spaces that introduces five new dining concepts and an expanded pool and pool bar.

The 30,000-square-foot spa features 24 treatment rooms, spa suites for couples, spa boutique, full-service nail salon, Drybar, Deborah Lippmann Nail Salon and relaxation and tranquility zones.

More than 70 of the signature spa treatments developed at Miraval Arizona are offered, including NÂGA and Shamana-Karma treatments and Ayurvedic, energy and body renewal rituals. New treatments, developed exclusively for Monarch Beach Resort, incorporate coastal-inspired ingredients, including sea salt, crystal salt stones, algae and marine muds.

Miraval-inspired healthy menu items are served at the resort's restaurants and Miraval Spa Cafe.

Steven A. Rudnitsky, Miraval Group president & chief executive officer, described Miraval Life in Balance Spa as “a branded lifestyle, wellness and spa facility designed to replace traditional spas and generate greater returns by augmenting the opportunities that exist within an existing four-star-plus hotel or resort.”

Miraval Life in Balance Spa offers hotel and resort owners a higher-performing, professionally managed spa that drives overall value by attracting more guests and delivering a notable gain in revenue per occupied room and higher spa margins, he said.

Spa membership for area residents is factored into the business plan to generate additional income.

Concurrent with the development of Miraval Life in Balance Spas, Miraval Group is developing full-service Miraval destination wellness spas and resorts in key regional markets modeled after the top-rated Miraval Resort & Spa at Tucson, Arizona, Rudnitsky said.

“Our success operating a destination wellness spa and resort in the Arizona desert can be transferred to the California wine country, the Rocky Mountains, vacation destinations in the Northeast, the beaches of the Southeast and the inland markets of the Southwest,” he said.

Monarch Beach Resort will be operated by Starwood Hotels and Resorts as a St. Regis resort through May 31, when it will rebranded as Monarch Beach Resort and operated by KSL Resorts.
