LEON, ME. March 31, 2016 - InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world's leading hotel companies, announces the opening of the new-build 188-room Holiday Inn® & Suites Leon Plaza Mayor hotel. This hotel, following a more than $260 million Mexican pesos investment by the ownership group, joins three other IHG properties in the city: the Holiday Inn Leon hotel, the Holiday Inn Leon Convention Center hotel, and the Crowne Plaza® Leon hotel, and marks IHG's tenth property in the state of Guanajuato.

The Holiday Inn brand opened the doors of its first hotel more than 60 years ago and since then, has been making travel more enjoyable for generations of travelers all over the world. The Holiday Inn & Suites Leon Plaza Mayor hotel features a heated indoor swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness center, business center, several meeting rooms with capacity for up to 600 people as well as six executive boardrooms equipped with the most advanced technology, and complimentary parking for 200 cars. The hotel's La Cava restaurant offers Mexican cuisine with a Mediterranean twist. At Holiday Inn hotels, up to four kids age 12 and younger may eat free when ordering from the kids' menu in the hotel restaurant and accompanied by a dining adult.

Close to the Guanajuato International Airport and the Puerto Interior Industrial Zone, home to several automotive industry companies such as Volkswagen and Pirelli, the property is also 15 minutes from Leon's Poliforum Convention Center and the Plaza Palmas, Plaza Zenttro and Plaza Mayor shopping malls.

The 152 guestrooms feature contemporary styling, comfortable queen, king-sized or two double beds, 49" flat screen TVs, a sitting area with a lounge chair and an in-room coffee machine featuring complimentary coffee. The hotel's 36 suites are further equipped with full kitchens, separate dining and living areas and two bathrooms. The hotel also offers IHG® Rewards Club members an exclusive members-only floor.
