RICHMOND, VA. July 27, 2015 - Kindred Resorts & Hotels, a collection of independent hotels and resorts focused exclusively on the group and meetings market, has announced new group offerings and programs at properties across North America. Group and meeting activities include such authentic and local experiences as getting “up close and personal” with birds of prey and organic gardening in Woodstock, VT to exclusive golf outings at one of Connecticut's most historic courses and gluten-free dining in Vail, CO.

“One of the distinct benefits of booking a meeting at a Kindred resort or hotel is that meeting planners are able to offer their attendees truly authentic and highly personalized experiences at top independent boutique properties across the country,” said Bree Brostko, managing director.

The Woodstock Inn & Resort in Woodstock, Vermont, one of five Kindred properties in the state, has added falconry to its roster of signature outdoor group experiences this summer in partnership with renowned New England Falconry. Located nearby in the resort's historic 10,000 square-foot Rutherford Barn surrounded by a 50-acre meadow, New England Falconry at Woodstock Inn & Resort offers meeting or group guests to get “up close and personal” with birds of prey. Under the watchful eye of Master Falconer Chris Davis, the director and founder of New England Falconry based in Hadley, MA, the collection of six Harris's hawks, a falcon and an eagle owl are trained for a variety of guest experiences including hawk walks, raptor receptions, and even as skilled ring bearers for weddings.

Also this summer, the Woodstock Inn & Resort invites guests to explore the art and techniques of gardening at its flourishing 2.5-acre Kelly Way Gardens, certified organic by the Vermont Organic Farmers Association. Master Gardener Benjamin Pauly has overseen and nurtured more than 200 varieties of vegetables, 50 types of herbs and edible flowers, 75 berries and orchard plantings, a mushroom glen, and both annual and perennial flowers. Produce from the Kelly Way Gardens provides culinary inspiration for the resort's menus. Garden classes can be customized for groups and cover a variety of topics such as floral arranging using the several hundred varieties of cultivated cut flowers, organic gardening fundamentals and seasonal gardening techniques. The classes share a behind-the-scenes look at the partnership between the chef and gardener and gives insight into how the current harvests make it on the menu and to the resort's tables.

The Saybrook Point Inn & Spa, located along the picturesque coastal community of historic Old Saybrook, Connecticut, the only Kindred property in the state, is now offering group guests the opportunity to golf at the prestigious Old Lyme Country Club. Meeting guests will be able to tee-off at one of Connecticut's most historic golf courses located just minutes away in Old Lyme, Connecticut. Conveniently located just two hours from New York City and Boston, the Saybrook Point Inn & Spa offers stunning views of the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound. With more than 8,500 square-feet of meeting space, Saybrook Point offers a variety of conference center facilities ideal for meetings, conventions, and corporate retreats. The property's expert staff guides meeting planners through the planning process to ensure that the space is exactly as it needs to be. From weddings to holiday parties and birthdays to baby showers, the facilities at Saybrook Point may be tailored to any occasion - whether it's a business conference or social gathering.

This coming winter season at the Sonnenalp Hotel in Vail, Colorado, one of three Kindred properties in Colorado, meeting attendees who are gluten free will be able to enjoy a new menu, consisting entirely of gluten-free dishes. Created by Chef Florian Schwarz, the new menu will be featured at Ludwig's restaurant, which is available for group buy-outs and features artfully crafted and creative European cuisine. Every single dish on the menu, from the sauces and house-made pastas to the breads and desserts, is gluten free. Ludwig's is the first restaurant in the Vail Valley to exclusively offer gluten-free cuisine. While the menu at Ludwig's has changed, the elegant atmosphere, spectacular service and award-winning wine list that guests have come to expect will remain the same.

Menu highlights include Rice Popped Black Tiger Shrimp served over Mango Gazpacho & Couscous; Cream of Lobster Soup with Wild Mushrooms; Lavender Lamb Carpaccio; Chilean Sea Bass served with Black & White Quinoa, Pineapple, Squash, Bacon and a Green Curry Sauce; and the Oven Roasted Elk Rack with Sweet Potatoes, Red Cabbage and Blueberry Sauce.

Another Kindred property in Colorado, Madeline Hotel and Residences in Telluride, has just debuted a Dylan's Candy Bar on property as part of an overall $15 million enhancement that is currently underway. Dylan's Candy Bar at Madeline Hotel and Residences offers its signature items including thousands of curated candies from around the world and an ice cream counter. Meeting guests can opt for a Dylan's Candy Bar Break instead of the traditional coffee break. Additionally, the ice cream counter is an unconventional, fun spot for corporate gatherings. The property is also debuting a new Club Room offering 3,000 square feet of function space including an indoor/outdoor bar, pool table and shuffleboard, perfect for groups to unwind after a day of meetings.

About Kindred Resorts & Hotels

Kindred Resorts & Hotels is a collection of independent hotels and resorts in North America focused exclusively on the group and meetings market. The consortia is a division of the Resort Hotel Association (RHA), which was founded by the members of what is now the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) Resort Committee. Kindred was formed to help boutique properties that offer authentic, highly personalized experiences build awareness and inquiry from the group, meetings and events markets. With over 60 participating properties across the United States and Mexico, each participating venue offers uniquely authentic and local experiences, which vary from rustic lakeside retreats to luxury golf resorts and destination spas.
