Manathai Hotels & Resorts Embraces Thai Heritage with Launch of Luxury Boutique Resort in Koh Samui

. July 06, 2015

BANGKOK, TH. July 6, 2015 - Leading luxury hospitality group MANATHAI Hotels & Resorts is poised to provide guests with deeper connections into Thailand's natural and artistic heritage with the opening of the latest in its unique collection of boutique properties, MANATHAI Koh Samui, on July 1, 2015.

Located opposite a fishing village on Lamai Beach, the 148-room colonial-period styled beachfront resort sets itself apart by the lengths to which it has gone to remain authentic to the cultural nuances of the destination utilising indigenous materials and methods as foundations to shape the guest experience.

Examples can be found throughout the resort, from the ancient Dok Phi Khun floral patterns exhibited in the coloured glass panels in rooms and restaurant areas to the use of Bai Jak, the leaf from the native Nypa Palm, which the resort uses to provide complimentary hand fans to guests.

In the rooms, Thai ceramic traditions are showcased in the bathroom basins by local firm, Sense, while silk cushions are provided by Jim Thompson, the manufacturer behind the world famous brand which continues to utilise traditional silk weaving techniques in all its products.

MANATHAI Hotels & Resorts Chief Operations Officer, Christoph Berger, said he was delighted to be opening the resort and was looking forward to welcoming guests to an elegant, boutique experience.

"Koh Samui is a special destination. It offers a uniquely relaxed atmosphere and we have worked hard to harness this with our reverence for the arts and traditions of Thai culture. We also have established close links with local communities, such as the fishing village, and by embracing local livelihoods we can provide guests exceptional experiences and support our neighbours."

MANATHAI Koh Samui is a 50-minute flight from Bangkok and 20 minutes from Samui International Airport, offering 46 Suites, including six Family Suites, two with bunk beds and special amenities tailored to children and a range of other suites up to 200-square metres (sqm) in size, 102 Deluxe Balcony Rooms, a fitness centre, a kids club and childcare services, two swimming pools, complimentary Wi-Fi and 24-hour security.

Culinary creativity is to the fore at Waterline, a beachfront seafood dining experience, while authenticity is on the menu at Pad Thai where guests can also learn how to cook the iconic Thai dish. Colours restaurant serves all-day international cuisine beside the second 'family' pool, while pub food is available at Mulligan's and coffee and cakes at Coffee World Cafe for a total of five outlets.

Meeting space ranges from 25sqm to 66sqm, seating a maximum of 60-theatre style, while beachfront weddings are customised to all individual needs by expert event planners with a picturesque backdrop.
