The Alpina Gstaad Announces New Summer Programs

Silent Retreat, Private Boot Camp, Birds and Bees, Classes with Six Senses Yoga Teacher & Michelin-starred Chef

GSTAAD, Switzerland. June 22, 2015 - This summer Gstaad's newest luxury hotel will offer a host of new, innovative programs designed to rejuvenate, recalibrate and invigorate the mind as well as the body. For a small property with only 56 rooms and suites, The Alpina Gstaad will have special packages and programs for yogis, spa enthusiasts, nature lovers, aspiring chefs, foodies, fitness freaks, sports fans, music lovers and those that prefer the silent treatment.

Some of the new offers include:

  • A new series of Yogic Programs - Discover Yoga, Yogic Detox and Yogic Sleep - will be led by Six Senses Spas' yoga teacher Emily Evelyn. Yogic sleep aims to induce a deep state of relaxation by combining yoga nidra, gentle stretching and pranayama.

  • The Silent Retreat aims to provide guests with a tech "break," so they can reconnect with their inner selves. Guests receive a healthy welcome cocktail and a Six Senses Notepad before their first meditation session.

  • The six-day, five-night Private Boot Camp includes intense Alpine workouts, army wake-ups, and TRX suspension and Alpine training classes. At the end of each day, participants will appreciate the deep tissue massage and foot acupressure to relieve their aching muscles.

  • Want to improve your cooking skills? Michelin-starred Executive Chef Marcus G. Lindner will teach you some of his culinary secrets. Food critics describe Lindner's talent as a "taste acrobat."

This summer, The Alpina Gstaad will have its own beehives in the garden and by August, will produce its first Alpina honey overseen by Parisian urban beekeeper Audric de Campeau. Guests can begin the day with a light, organic dish from the Healthy Start menu and create their own detox juices. Later, they can head to the mountains with a picnic lunch - one of three special menus created by Chef Lindner.

Guests looking for a wellness experience can visit The Alpina Gstaad's 21,500-square-foot Six Senses Spa.

  • The six-day Mountain Detox program is tailored to the individual guest with nutritional programs (Alpina Spa Cuisine or a juice program with Detox Delight) and cleansing courses of therapy (Lymphatic drainage, Colonic cleansing, the hammam and Himalayan salt grotto experiences). Also included: Detox bandage wrap, VelaShape, Floatation therapy, Six Senses Detox massage, Yoga, Bio rhythms, Tai Chi /Qi Gong, Meditation, Chakra balancing, Oxygen facial and optional group classes.

  • An expert in Sophrology Christian Turkier, will focus on mind and body exercises that will lead to a healthy, relaxed body and calm, alert mind. Daily sessions are complemented with Six Senses Spa treatments and yoga, Reiki or Tai Chi Chuan. (August 17-21)

  • The Alpina Gstaad's highly-experienced resident practitioner Antonis Sarris, named "Best Masseur in the World" by Spa Finder, will lead three-day, two-night, Tibetan Retreats" allowing guests to rehabilitate their balance of mind and body through modification of dietary and behaviour regimes, herbal medicine and healing treatments based on the five-element theory.

Of course, guests who like to be active can also opt for river rafting, paragliding, cycling or hiking up the mountains to view Swiss wild flowers. They can even be a "farmer for a day" heading up to one of the mountain huts to watch the locals make cheese.

Meanwhile, honeymooners and couples might opt for the more mellow Romance Package enjoying a hammam experience, a candlelit dinner and later The Alpina Gstaad's private cinema all to themselves - complete with popcorn and gummy bears.
