Scout Hotel & Resort Management Embarks on New Development Phase With Addition of Properties in Upstate New York and Belize

Scout Hotel & Resort Management, the independent hotel and resort management company known for operating successful assets in the Cape and Islands region of New England and in Florida, has embarked on a robust new development phase with a property in New York near the Canadian border and one under development in Belize. These announcements telegraph Scout's strategy which anticipates expansion throughout 2015 and beyond.

“We are optimistic that our niche which focuses on hotel and resort properties that are typically independent, often distressed, and in desirable locations will continue to provide excellent opportunity for Scout,” said Robin Kirk, principal and CEO. “We doubled our number of properties under management last year and that momentum has carried us forward as we continue our growth strategy into the second half of the decade.”

This spring, Scout has assumed management of Barton Hill Hotel & Spa, situated on the Niagara River just minutes from Niagara Falls in historic Lewiston, NY. The 67-room boutique property, including two suites, offers a full-service spa, restaurant and almost 6,000-square-feet of function space for business and social events. Overnight guests receive a continental breakfast daily and the picturesque hotel offers a range of guest amenities and conveniences and is pet friendly.

At the same time, the company is working with Green Development Partners, Ltd, to conceptualize the resort portion of Mahogany Bay Village on the island of Belize, a property slated to open in early 2016. Surrounded by stunning white sand beaches on Ambergris Caye, the resort will offer 195 cottage-style hotel rooms as part of a world-class 60+-acre development which, when completed, will also feature private residences, Bay Club, Beach Club and Science & Soul Energy Center and Spa along with a host of dining options, retail outlets, amenities, services, and other visitor attractions.

Scout's scope of work for Mahogany Bay Village includes programing advice and technical support on resort amenities, layout, and back-of-house design, and the company is specifying all operating systems and equipment as well as furniture, fixtures and equipment for the resort. In addition, Scout will oversee all pre-opening hiring, training, sales, and marketing activities and will operate the resort when it opens.
