Omni Providence Hotel Unveils Multimillion-Dolar Public Space Renovation

Enhancements Made to Lobby, Meeting Spaces, Coffee Shop and Pool

. December 15, 2014

PROVIDENCE, RI - December 15, 2014 - Omni Hotels & Resorts announced today the completion of a multimillion-dollar public space renovation at the Omni Providence Hotel. The lobby, meeting spaces, indoor pool and coffee shop all received elegant and sophisticated facelifts that create a warm and inviting experience for guests.

“We are excited to unveil the newest enhancements and design changes to our hotel,” said Josh Heidenreich, general manager of Omni Providence Hotel. “The new aesthetic evokes a sense of place, so when guests walk in our doors they immediately feel the local culture and flavor of both Providence and Rhode Island, but at the same time, know they're unmistakably at an Omni.”

The renovations include all-new furniture and carpeting in the open-air lobby, through which guests can enjoy unobstructed views of the Capitol, and entirely redecorated meeting spaces. All breakout rooms and ballrooms received new wall coverings and carpeting, specially designed to weave seamlessly into new artwork commissioned for the hotel, including two pictures of the Newport Bridge and Point Street Bridge. A tile mosaic was also added that depicts a historic photograph of the city, as well as a nine panel display of the elaborate river system of Narragansett Bay.

“The Omni Providence had some wonderful detailing in place when we started the project,” said CMMI lead designer on the project, Billie Thorne. “Our goal was to provide a current and sophisticated feel while maintaining and enhancing the classic detailing found throughout the hotel.”

Morsel's, the hotel's coffee shop, was completely redesigned to make room for comfortable bar and table seating. The all new Morsel's is complete with a 60-inch TV and proudly brews Starbucks' coffee and specialty items. The hotel's indoor and heated pool, one of the only pools in downtown Providence, was also updated and now offers new lightweight wicker furniture, and a new deck made of chilewich basket weave.

Located in the heart of downtown and connected to the Rhode Island Convention Center, the hotel offers 564 luxurious guest rooms and suites. It is in close proximity to historic attractions, gourmet restaurants, upscale shopping and entertainment.
