Melia Hotels International to Open the 41-key Melia Campione by Year-end in Italy's Campione Region

Palma de Mallorca, Spain - October 31, 2014 - Meliá Hotels International today announced that it will open Meliá Campione later this year in the region of Campione d'Italia, located in the province of Como in Lombardy, an Italian tax-free zone surrounded on all sides by Switzerland and that uses the Swiss franc. The hotel is in close proximity to Lugano, the Swiss city where Mediterranean culture meets French and German tradition.

Located on the shores of Lake Lugano, Meliá Campione sits next to the famous Campione Casino, the largest casino in Europe that was built before the Second World War in 1933, and near the region's other attractions including the marina, the former Basilica, the parish church of San Zenone, the Oratory of Saint Peter and the Parish Museum. Campione is currently an important cosmopolitan center and a destination of high-end International tourism.

Meliá Campione will consist of 41 rooms, an all-day dining concept offering contemporary, unpretentious gastronomic cuisine, and a YHI Spa & Wellness Center, amongst other luxury services and facilities. Meliá has reached a management agreement with the hotel owners, the international investment group The Khamas, which has over a century of business experience. In the United Arab Emirates alone The Khamas includes more than 120 companies in sectors such as real estate development, contracting and construction, hotels, manufacturing, franchising and education.
