Thanksgiving Feast in the Quintessential American West at Montana's Triple Creek Ran

. October 16, 2014

Darby, Montana - October 16, 2014 - There's no place like home, especially when home for the holidays is Montana's Triple Creek Ranch, which was just named the World's Best Hotel 2014 by the readers of Travel + Leisure. Triple Creek Ranch, an adults-only Relais & Châteaux property in the Bitterroot Mountain Range, is extending a warm welcome for its second annual Thanksgiving Celebration.

Set against a vast backdrop of four million acres of National Forest, Triple Creek Ranch offers an authentic Western experience that is especially fitting for America's greatest national holiday. Each of Triple Creek Ranch's 23 log cabins is a luxury retreat, appointed with wood burning fireplaces and private or nearby hot tubs. Original Western art from the owner's private collection can be found gracing the walls of guest cabins and the main Lodge. Guests can spend a day hiking, horseback riding or perfecting their fly fishing skills with an Orvis-endorsed guide on the Bitterroot River.

Thanksgiving guests can test their aim with bow and arrow in Triple Creek Ranch's inaugural Archery Tournament and enjoy a riverside picnic. Later in the day, they can adjourn for a relaxed gathering under soaring timbers at the lodge, enjoy a glass of wine from a cellar that has just won its 10th Wine Spectator Award, and compete in a Stave Puzzle© Challenge. The day's highlight might well be a Thanksgiving feast prepared by Executive Chef Jacob Leatherman, who cooked for a sellout crowd at New York's James Beard Foundation last November.

Chef Jacob's Thanksgiving will be a traditional yet innovative homage to the flavors of the West and the bounty of America. Sommelier Jeremy White will feature wines from producers such as Chappellet, Et Fille, Merry Edwards and Chateau Montelena. The following day, Chef Jacob will welcome guests into his kitchen for pie making classes and offer some creative recipes for those holiday leftovers. This multi-day Thanksgiving Celebration runs from November 24 to December 1, 2014. Click here for details.

Every fall, led by Triple Creek Ranch's co-owner, Craig Barrett (retired chairman and CEO of Intel and a passionate fly fisherman), the hunt is on for steelhead. This anadromous fish is an ocean-going form of rainbow trout and prized catch for any fly fisherman. Barrett and his guests cross the border into neighboring Idaho for guided fishing on "The River of No Return," the legendary Salmon River, with Rawhide Outfitters. At night, they gather back at Triple Creek Ranch, an Orvis-endorsed fly-fishing lodge, for cocktails, fine dining and tales of the day. This four-day outdoor sporting event includes two days of guided fly-fishing and a day trip to Hamilton Trap Club for trap shooting and five-stand. This year's Steelhead Celebration runs from October 30 to November 3, 2014. Click here for details.
