lMILWAUKEE - September 5, 2014 - Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, a division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS) today announced it has completed an $11 million renovation of The Cornhusker, A Marriott Hotel, in Lincoln, Neb. just in time for Husker football season. Every inch of the hotel was renovated, and creative new food and beverage concepts and Marriott signature elements were added. Located just minutes from the historic Haymarket District and easy walking distance from the University of Nebraska campus, the hotel has undergone significant changes that have taken this beautiful property to new heights in Nebraska's capital city.

"Having been a part of the Lincoln community for nearly 90 years, we are extremely excited to present the newly refurbished Cornhusker Hotel to the Lincoln community and our guests," said Bob Megazzini, general manager. "From the 27 meeting rooms to the elegant lobby and updated guest rooms, The Cornhusker will be the place for business travelers, social events, galas and weddings alike."

The revitalized lobby, still featuring a beautifully ornate staircase, now boasts a modernized look and feel, emphasizing neutral colors that reflect Marriott's design vision. At the front desk, backlit panels and dark wood accents provide an inviting and warm atmosphere for guests as they arrive. Expansive floor-to-ceiling lobby windows now serve as a focal point, naturally lighting the lobby and creating a welcoming gathering space.

In addition to the significant lobby transformation, other property renovations include all 300 guest rooms, as well as 46,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Newly refurbished guestrooms continue the contemporary theme with elegant carpet, plush down comforters with soft, fluffy pillows, granite bathroom countertops, modern lighting and artwork that enhances the new design esthetics. Guests can also enjoy complimentary high-speed internet access, 32-inch flat-screen LCD TVs and work desks with ergonomic chairs to keep them well connected and relaxed throughout their stay.

Ten spacious suites were expanded to offer additional luxurious amenities, including a parlor, master bathroom and master closet. "Guests can entertain and relax in the living area, which includes its own bathroom, then enjoy a good night's sleep in the separate master bedroom. Each suite also offers guests a prime view of Nebraska's state capitol building and the city of Lincoln," added Megazzini.

As Lincoln's most prominent hotel for business meetings, conferences, weddings and social gatherings, event planners will be eager to book their upcoming event in the refurbished meeting spaces. New decor, wall coverings and modern design elements set the tone, with state-of-the-art technologies, including video conferencing and high-speed Internet access, available to make every meeting a success. Combine the new updates with the hotel's in-house audio visual team and highly-skilled catering specialists, and guests are sure to enjoy their corporate gathering or social event.

Updates were also made to guest room corridors, the indoor pool, and all elevators were reconfigured with modernized technology. The gift shop was relocated and now provides 24 hour availability of snacks and products to guests.

Megazzini added that the expanded food and beverage offerings cater to both guests and local residents alike, as The Cornhusker is located in the heart of downtown Lincoln's business district. "The Cafe at The Cornhusker on the ground floor offers a barista counter featuring Starbucks brewed coffee, in-house baked gourmet pastries and desserts, and other popular breakfast items for the traveler on the go. A full dining area is also available with a complete breakfast menu featuring modern classics such as omelets, eggs benedict and buttermilk pancakes, as well as items with a twist such as crunchy French toast, seasoned boneless strip steak and eggs, roast beef hash and a broken yolk sandwich."

The hotel's second floor lounge was converted to a Marriott great room experiential lobby, offering style, comfort, convenience and entertainment for the new generation of mobile travelers. "Designed to meet the needs of today's high-tech, savvy travelers, the Marriott great room creates a seamless experience merging modern, stylish design and comfort, with state-of-the-art technologies. The great room features modern work stations, a media center, complimentary Wi-Fi and five large flat screen TVs allowing guests to blend work and play. Plug in to one of the many USB ports and catch your favorite game or relax at one of our communal work tables or cubicles to socialize with friends and co-workers. Our guests can stay connected 24/7 to family, friends and work, or check their social networks while watching the lobby scene unfold," said Megazzini.

The lounge on the 10th floor was reimagined into a Marriott Concierge Lounge. The renovated lounge offers a relaxing space with new work stations, TVs, complimentary snacks, soft drinks, coffee and bottled water, in addition to daily Happy Hour specials to please the highest level of Marriott Elite Members.

In September 2013, Marcus Hotels & Resorts unveiled the opening of the company's second Miller Time® Pub & Grill in The Cornhusker. "Miller Time Pub & Grill pairs the perfect beer with the perfect bite and has been a welcome addition to the downtown Lincoln dining scene. As a lively social spot for the business lunch crowd and popular Husker sporting events, the restaurant offers over 15 varieties of craft burgers and draft beer options, available in growlers, boots or flights, as well as other beer-inspired menu favorites. Beer-savvy staff members are on hand to assist guests in finding the perfect pairings. The restaurant offers ongoing specials including a beer of the month, happy-hour drafts and beer flights," said Nathan Unger, general manager of the Miller Time Pub & Grill.

"From the renovated lobby, guest rooms and meeting spaces to the expanded food and beverage concepts, guests and area residents will appreciate the extensive renovations that were made to this historic property and iconic landmark in downtown Lincoln. We are proud to partner with Marriott International on continuing to position The Cornhusker as the leader in its market and to maintain its prominent position within the Lincoln community," said Thomas F. Kissinger, interim president of Marcus Hotels & Resorts and senior executive vice president of The Marcus Corporation.
