JW Marriott Austin Now Accepting Guest Room Reservations

Public Areas Inside Hotel 80 Percent Complete

. August 28, 2014

Austin, Texas - August 28, 2014 - JW Marriott Austin announced today that the hotel is now accepting guest room reservations. The hotel will open earlier than previously announced, with the first guests checking in on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015. Upon completion, the 34-story hotel will not only be the largest hotel in Austin, but also the largest JW Marriott in the United States and the second-largest JW Marriott in the world.

The public areas of the hotel, including the lobby, restaurants, bars, Starbucks, meeting spaces, pool and fitness center are now 80 percent complete. The drywall throughout the tower is 99 percent complete, and the lobby of the hotel is now weather-tight and climate controlled. Over the next few weeks, the hotel will begin putting the finishes on the lobby, including a ceiling and floor pattern that features a topographical map of Austin. Additionally, temporary elevators on the exterior of the building have been removed, and permanent service elevators are up and running.
“It is exciting to reach the point in this process where we are able to begin accepting individual room reservations,” Scott Blalock, general manager of the JW Marriott Austin, said. “We are putting the finishing touches on the spaces our guests will enjoy the most, and we are proud to be one step closer to providing Austin with this superb hotel for everyone to enjoy.”

Executive Chef Announced

The JW Marriott Austin recently hired executive chef Juan Martinez to oversee the hotel's three in-house restaurants, as well as all of the hotel's culinary operations for banquets, meetings, catering and more. Martinez has more than 15 years of experience in the culinary and hospitality industry. Before joining the JW Marriott Austin, he served as executive chef at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa for three years.

The JW Marriott Austin's three restaurants will include a full-service regional Italian restaurant, a restaurant highlighting local regional cuisine and a restaurant with a walk-up food truck-style window on Congress Ave. Additionally, a full-service Starbucks will be located inside the hotel.
