. July 14, 2014

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - July 14, 2014 - Hilton Waikoloa Village has taken part in Careers@Hilton Live: Youth in Hospitality Month. The largest-ever global career event for Hilton Worldwide showcased to young people throughout the entire month of May the many employment opportunities available in the hospitality industry. Youth in Hospitality Month was crafted as part of Bright Blue Futures, a global program that encourages Hilton Hotels & Resorts Team Members to donate their time and expertise to help young people achieve stability and bring hope to their communities, preparing them for a brighter future.

Careers@Hilton Live: Youth in Hospitality events are a unique opportunity for Hilton Worldwide Team Members to inspire those looking for employment in the hospitality industry and to support them by providing guidance and knowledge on the skills that are vital to succeed in the workplace and beyond. Participants joined Hilton Worldwide Team Members for events ranging from resume clinics to career speed-networking and were able to watch presentations from Team Members on their career paths.

“The youth of today are faced with challenges and circumstances unique to their generation,” said Debi Bishop, general manager of Hilton Waikoloa Village. It's more important than ever to bridge the knowledge gap, provide information and advice about career options available and to personally exemplify the skills and attributes required to succeed in the hospitality industry.

“As a brand, we are passionate about raising awareness of opportunities offered within the trade and couldn't be more thrilled to provide these career events across the globe.”

Careers@Hilton Live: Youth in Hospitality Month is a part of the Hilton Worldwide Open Doors commitment, which aims to positively impact at least one million young people by 2019 to better prepare them to reach their full potential.

Those unable to attend an event during May can still take part in the Hilton Worldwide “Career Concierge,” in which everyone interested in learning more about careers in hospitality can submit their questions online via Hilton Worldwide's twitter feed (@HiltonWorldwide) using hashtag #CareersatHiltonLive, or through the form on www.hiltonworldwide.com/youth.
