NEW YORK, July 1, 2014 - San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, the leading collection of boutique hotels and restaurants in the United States, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sean Flanigan as general manager of The Muse New York. A passionate travel and hospitality professional, Flanigan brings over nine years of experience to The Muse. A member of the Kimpton family since 2005, Flanigan has helped to open several hotels in major US cities including Ink48 (New York), The Palomar Philadelphia, EPIC (Miami), and Hotel Monaco Philadelphia, and looks forward to continuing to elevate The Muse's creative programming and innovative guest amenities, ensuring the overall success of the hotel.

"Sean Flanigan is a natural born leader who possesses the talent, personality, and drive that is required to oversee one of Kimpton's most exciting properties in the most dynamic city in the country," said Rob Andrews, Director of Operations for Kimpton New York City. "His managerial skills, commitment to the guest experience, and approachable demeanor provides the perfect combination for success in this new role."

Flanigan began his tenure with Kimpton as a front desk agent at Onyx Hotel in Boston and was quickly promoted to front office supervisor, where he learned the ins and outs of day-to-day operations, service excellence and guest satisfaction, and the overall Kimpton culture, shaping the fundamentals of his career. In 2010, Flanigan was given even more responsibility and was named hotel manager for Hotel Palomar Philadelphia. Excited to take on this new and exciting position in the City of Brotherly Love, Flanigan oversaw all aspects of hotel operations including guest relations, front desk and housekeeping management, sales and marketing, staff development, and revenue. He later was appointed opening hotel manager for Hotel Monaco Philadelphia, where he was responsible for launching one of Kimpton's most unique and stylish properties. Flanigan most recently found himself in sunny South Florida as general manager of Surfcomber Hotel & Resort, a trendy beachfront property located on the luxurious South Beach, where he was awarded the GM Rookie of the Year Award for 2013, which recognized his enthusiasm, commitment and his innate ability to wear the many different hats that are required of successful General Managers.

"I'm excited for my new chapter with The Muse team and to head back to the Northeast," says Flanigan. "Through Kimpton, I have had the opportunity to meet a diverse group of guests and fellow staff members, and I look forward to continuing my career in New York City."

Originally from Northborough, Massachusetts, Flanigan received a Bachelors of Science from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
