Premier Inn Appoints V.V. Giri as Regional Director, Operations (South Asia)

New Delhi, India - April 8, 2014 - Premier Inn, the UK's largest budget hotel chain and part of Whitbread Plc, announced the appointment of V.V. Giri as Regional Director, Operations (South Asia).

With industry experience of nearly 30 years, Mr. Giri brings on board deep understanding of Operations, client/owner relationships, team and talent management and training and development initiatives. He has extensive experience in leading large teams with hands on exposure and has been successful in building strong operational functions.

As Regional Director, Operations for South Asia, Mr. Giri will be responsible for providing direction to further enhance Premier Inn's presence in the country. He will manage a wide portfolio of verticals related to the operations of the hotel, including sales and marketing, branding and communication, information systems, finance management, legal, human resources, training and guest quality insight. His primary role will be to develop and execute a strategic plan to ensure that the operations of the hotels under the Premier Inn brand are as per the brand standards and guests' expectations.

Mr. Giri graduated from The Oberoi School of Hotel Management and participated in management courses at Cornell University, Ithica, USA. He started his career from The Oberoi Hotels as a Management Trainee in 1984. Since then, Mr. Giri has been involved with some of the biggest names in the hospitality industry, including Mahindra Holidays, The Park Hotels and The Ceebros group. He also worked extensively as an independent hospitality business consultant, wherein he provided strategic council to various start up projects based in south India. In his last role Mr. Giri held the role of President at Appu Hotels Ltd., the owning company of Le Meridien Hotels in Chennai and Coimbatore, wherein his core responsibilities included owner management, daily finance management, renovation, branding and positioning, advising on engagements pertaining to market and financial feasibility.
