GETTYS Hospitality Design Firm Announces Design Completion for the Westin Abu Dhabi Resort & Spa

GETTYS Completes Interior Design of 5-Star Luxurious Oasis

December 22, 2011 - GETTYS, a leading global hospitality design, procurement, branding and development firm, completed the interior design for the new Westin Hotel Golf Resort and Spa, Abu Dhabi. Operated by Starwood and owned by the Abu Dhabi-based development company, Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), it is the second Westin hotel in the United Arab Emirates.

"We're thrilled to bring our multiple levels of GETTYS expertise to the design of the Westin Abu Dhabi,” said Andrew Fay, President and COO of GETTYS. "It is our largest completed project to date in the Middle East. We're most satisfied with the results of this endeavor and we're delighted to be a part of the MENA marketplace."

"Our team wanted to provide a design that let the resort be reflective of its golf and fitness focus, with interiors and amenity areas that visually embrace a love of nature, organic touches and a sense of discovery, while still designing in function to allow for luxury level service,” added Meg Prendergast, principal at GETTYS and principal-in-charge of the project.

The five-star luxury resort consists of a dramatic two-story lobby and 172 softly sophisticatedly appointed guest rooms and suites. Abundantly varied food & beverage outlets include: Agadir, an exotic Moroccan fine dining restaurant adjacent to the leisure area, refreshing Fairways for all-day dining and The Lounge coffee house overlooking the golf course. Augmenting these are the sophisticated Lemon & Lime lobby bar or the clubby Retreat pub just off the golf greens. The gracious leisure area features multiple pools and seating areas where GETTYS designed cabanas with The Shades as the poolside cafe for casual snacks and beverages.

Also welcoming guests and visitors is the 19,500 square foot conference center replete with a pearlescent grand ballroom, engaging pre-function spaces, multiple meeting rooms, and a full service business center.

"We always aim to exceed our owners' and guests' expectations,” added Prendergast. "Through our collaboration with TDIC, Starwood, and the project's lead architect, GREC, we've established a breathtaking, luxurious sanctuary for global travelers to experience and enjoy."
