Lisa Anders Named Gwinnett CVB Executive Director

Lisa Anders Promoted To Executive Director of the Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau

Gwinnett County, GA - December 12, 2011 - The Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau (GCVB) has announced the promotion of Lisa Anders to Executive Director of the GCVB effective January 1, 2012. Most recently, Anders served as Deputy Director of the GCVB and played vital roles in many of the GCVB’s 2011 successes.

Anders played a part in Gwinnett’s 2011 Camera Ready initiative, securing 2012 FLW Championship and 2012 SEC Women’s Gymnastics Championship in Gwinnett and hosting the 2011 PGA Championship. She will continue to lead day-to-day operations of the GCVB and she will continue to play an active role in all marketing, communications and sales efforts of the organization.

“I am very excited about this opportunity,” says Anders. “The GCVB has had a great year, and much of that is attributed to our strong hospitality community, an excellent staff and a supportive Board. We are looking forward to expanding the Gwinnett Sports Commission next year, and have a slew of premier events coming to Gwinnett. Tourism is a big part of Gwinnett’s economy, and I look forward to seeing what 2012 brings to the GCVB and the Gwinnett Sports Commission.”

The GCVB is Gwinnett County’s official tourism organization and is dedicated to strengthening Gwinnett County’s economy by marketing the county as a destination for conventions, sporting events, meetings and leisure travel through sales, marketing and promotion. GCVB represents all hotels within the county and the cities of Suwanee, Norcross and Buford.

Anders has been with the GCVB for 14 years and has held various key positions in sales and marketing. Prior to joining the GCVB, Anders worked for the Cendant Corp. for 5 years and began her career in the hotel industry in suburban Atlanta in 1994.

Anders is active within the local and national tourism communities, serving as Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureau Board member for 4 years, on Gwinnett Technical College’s Hospitality Education Committee, Destination Management Association International Education Board, Aurora Theatre Board of Directors, ArtWorks! Board of Directors and was a founding member of Duluth’s Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Festival committee.

Anders hails from Chattanooga, TN and moved to Atlanta in 1995 after graduating from University of Tennessee with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Communications. She enjoys volunteering in the Atlanta community and spending time with her 14 year old son Ben.
