431-room Xona Resort Suites Becomes Zona Hotel & Suites Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - October 12, 2011 - Effective today, a new name is revealed for a distinctive North Scottsdale hotel. Xona Resort Suites Scottsdale is now called Zona Hotel & Suites Scottsdale with major branding elements of the 431-room hotel reflecting the change. In conjunction with a multi-million dollar renovation that modernized guest rooms and upgraded property amenities, the name change more accurately portrays the freshened hotel and overall guest experience. The new Zona Hotel also announces two guest service enhancements including the Golf Concierge and participation in Choice Hotel's Ascend Collection.

“The majority of our guests are golf and corporate travelers as well as family vacationers. The strong yet delicate influences of our new name and mark more effectively appeal to the breadth of our core demographic,” explains General Manager Bruce Pittet of the freshened name of the hotel. “With the anticipated completion of significant upgrades throughout the property, we now feel we are accurately communicating the friendly, welcoming experience Zona consistently delivers our guests.”

Sunstone Realty Advisors purchased the hotel in January 2011 and appointed O'Neill Hotels & Resorts as the hotel management company for the property. Fully embracing the property, management conducted a thorough evaluation of the hotel and its competitive environment to solidify its vision of the improvement plan for the property. Extensive research, which included surveying and analyzing opinions from the hotel's substantial client base, made it clear that a new yet traditional, easy-to-pronounce name was the correct direction for Zona.

Along with the new name and renovations, Zona Hotel & Suites Scottsdale introduces two new services augmenting guest convenience.

Membership in Choice Hotel's Ascend Collection: Joining the 13 million member Choice Privileges network, the Ascend Collection is a group of historic, boutique and unique hotels that, like Zona, offer guests an upscale, true local experience. Through their established Choice Privileges program, guests earn and redeem points for free hotel nights, airline miles and other meaningful benefits. New guests can more easily learn of Zona through this distinctive partnership.

Golf Concierge: With experts on staff, the Golf Concierge has intimate knowledge of the expansive premier golf courses, including private courses, in the Valley of the Sun. A service exclusively for Zona guests, the Golf Concierge schedules tee times, offers course recommendations based on desired type of play and has up-to-the-minute course conditions.
