Tania McCorkle Joins Lakeway Resort and Spa as Spa Director
August 22, 2011 - Lakeway Resort and Spa announced today the new hire of Tania McCorkle as the new Spa Director overseeing 21 associates at the resort’s San Saba Spa. The resort, managed by Redstone Companies Hospitality, is a 174-room, award-winning property with 24,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, suites, condominiums and a beautiful setting located on the shores of Lake Travis in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.
Most recently, she was the Director of Athletics at The Downtown Club in Houston where McCorkle managed the athletic department, including over 100 staff members. Prior to that, she was at The Houstonian Club, Lakeway's sister resort, for six years where she began as a trainer and activities coordinator then promoted to Fitness Director. She managed all aspects of the fitness centerfrom the spa, dietitians and rockwall while managing 80 employees.
Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, McCorkle moved to the US in 1999. She was a member of the US National World Netball Championship team in 1999 – the highest accolade in her sport.
McCorkle is planning on expanding the fitness offerings at Lakeway and is working with a dietician to create a health-focused San Saba Spa culinary menu at the resort. She will also be adding a unique one-on-one stretching spa treatment to the menu.
