Centara Hotels to Open Its First Property in Bali

June 6, 2011 - Centara Hotels & Resorts has signed a management contract that will see the opening of its first property in Bali, Indonesia. To be named Centara Grand Nusa Dua Resort & Villas, the resort is a new one that will be completed at the end of this year. The soft opening is scheduled for December 2011 with the grand opening to be held during 2012.

Located at the prime Bali resort of Nusa Dua, the property will have 76 guestrooms ranging in size from 60-70sqm and 14 villas offering a choice of one, two, or three bedrooms. There will be two restaurants including an Indian restaurant, an all-day dining restaurant, a lounge bar, a club lounge, kids’ club, a SPA Cenvaree, fitness center, two swimming pools, and meeting rooms.

“We are delighted to be announcing our move into Bali and regard this as an important part of our strategy for expanding overseas with the acquisition of high-quality resort properties in outstanding tourism destinations,” said Gerd Steeb, president of Centara Hotels & Resorts.

“Bali represents our fifth overseas destination and follows the successful opening during the past 18 months of properties in the Maldives, Indian Himalayas, the Philippines, and Vietnam.”

Centara Hotels & Resorts is Thailand’s largest operator of hotels, with 37 deluxe and first-class properties covering all the major tourist destinations in the kingdom.

Chris Bailey, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Centara, said Bali is a perfect destination for Centara’s growing portfolio of overseas resorts. “Bali is an immensely popular destination that appeals to all market sectors,” he said.

“We are very pleased that our first step into Bali is with our premium Centara Grand, as this brand appeals to couples, families, and groups across the medium five-star market.”
