Coastal Hotel Group Highlighted for Industry Excellence

SEATTLE, WA - May 2, 2011 - Coastal Hotel Group, a privately held Seattle-based hospitality management company, is being recognized again and again for its marketing and revenue management methods and practices.

On Wednesday, April 20, Coastal Hotel Group was highlighted in a webinar titled “Facebook and Twitter for Hotels – A Best Practices Webinar” produced by Revinate for the connect bar that it places on each of its websites that allows guests to find the hotel, restaurant, golf course or spa on other mediums such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TripAdvisor and more.

Last month at the Stash Hotel Rewards Partner Summit in Atlanta, Coastal Hotel Group was nominated in the category of Performance and Results and won a Stash Stars Award for Values and Inspiration, which was accepted by Ed Schwitzky, Sr. VP of sales and marketing. Additionally, Wendy Perrin, the director of consumer news and digital community at Conde Nast Traveler, was the keynote speaker at the partner summit and in her presentation “What Today’s Traveler Want and How to Reach Them via Social Media,” highlighted Coastal Hotel Group’s use of Facebook.

Also in March, Coastal Hotel Group’s Corporate Director of Revenue Management Janelle Cornett spoke at the Pricing & Revenue Management Strategy for Hospitality conference in Las Vegas discussing the impact of Social Media on Revenue Management. In addition, Cornett was recently nominated for HSMAI’s Washington State Chapter’s Revenue Manager of the Year. Cornett serves as Vice President of Education for the HSMAI Washington State Chapter and recently spoke to members about Revenue Management in Today’s World.

Cornett is working with Highline Community College of Seattle to create a revenue management internship, plus she consults on a curriculum for students to earn a certificate in revenue management.

Seattle Met magazine recently updated the sales sheet in its media kit and two of Coastal Hotel Group’s properties are highlighted in examples of digital advertisements. This sales sheet will be disseminated to hundreds of potential advertisers generating great exposure for Coastal Hotels.

For the past year Ed Schwitzky has taught a graduate class in Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Missouri, where he also serves as a guest lecturer twice each year in Dr. Jim Groves’ Hotel and Restaurant Management class. Schwitzky, an MU alum, was invited to throw out the first pitch at the University of Missouri Tigers baseball game on Wednesday, April 13. He has also been invited to guest lecture at Seattle’s Highline Community College for the Hospitality and Tourism program, as well as Northern Arizona University’s School of Hotel and Restaurant Management.

Coastal Hotel Group was a founding member of Stash Hotel Rewards when it launched in May 2010 and continues to be on the front line, assuming a leadership role in member acquisition, including a beta test for mobile enrollment at its Seattle hotel, and in meeting/event planner initiatives. Last year, Stash awarded Janelle Cornett of Coastal Hotel Group one of their first two ever Stash Stars Awards.

Coastal Hotel Group manages a portfolio of premier hotels and resorts including Cedarbrook Lodge in Seattle; Hotel Fifty in Portland, Ore.; The Resort at The Mountain in Welches (Mt.
