Meritage Opens in Napa

. October 14, 2008

NAPA, CA, July 14, 2006. The Meritage Resort and Vino Bello Resort, luxury hotels at the gateway to Napa Valley, officially open this week with an invitation-only wine event featuring Meritage wines - high-quality Bordeaux-style blended wines produced primarily in California's Wine Country.

Adjacent to one another, the new resorts create the premier luxury travel destination in Napa Valley, opening with 274 luxuriously appointed guestrooms and villa suites, a gourmet restaurant with an award-winning chef, a wine bar, two swimming pools and fitness centers, a wedding chapel, grand ballroom and meeting space. Interior decor generously incorporates hand-forged iron fixtures, plush furnishings and commissioned artwork from Napa-area artists and a former Hollywood set designer.

Pacific Hospitality Group, a hotel developer, and Shell Vacations LLC, a developer of vacation ownership resorts, collaborated to design compatible resort features, guest functions and an overall complementary architectural style. The result is a seamless luxury destination experience.

The destination resort, situated on eight acres of private vineyards and located at the base of Napa's famed Grape Crusher statue, will open an immense wine cave and an under-ground spa, believed to be the first spa-cave in the world, in early 2007.

Guestrooms in The Meritage Resort have Tuscan-inspired decor with dark woods, scrolling patterns and wicker appointments. Three spacious executive suites offer living rooms, private dining rooms and/or board rooms, master suites and baths, fireplaces and balconies.

Vino Bello's studio villas, one- and two-bedroom suites are similarly styled with Tuscan decor and offer fully appointed kitchens or sleek kitchen-bars, living and dining areas, fireplaces, jetted tubs and multi-head showers. Both resorts have added oversized plasma televisions to all rooms along with technology features. Guests receive a complimentary bottle of wine upon check-in.

Award-winning executive chef Jeffrey Longenecker offers a meticulously designed menu in the resort's onsite gourmet restaurant, Siena. Menu items incorporate abundant fresh fruits, vegetables and meats and are paired with regional wines for optimum flavors.

An onsite wedding chapel and more than 10,500 square feet of meeting and event space -- the most contiguous meeting space in the Napa area -- have already attracted several private events.
