Double Celebrations for Crown Promenade Hotel

. October 14, 2008

DECEMBER 11, 2006. Just a couple of weeks before it celebrated its third anniversary, Crown Promenade Hotel was named the best tourism operator in its field, winning the Deluxe Accommodation category at the Melbourne Airport 2006 Victorian Tourism Awards.

The prestigious Awards salute the tourism industry's leading operators, businesses and individuals. They reinforce the enormous value of tourism to the community, highlighting the great experiences on offer across Victoria and recognise the hard work of tourism operators who go that extra step to provide guests with a quality and memorable experience.

A panel of 16 judges selected the winners based on stringent criteria encompassing key factors such as product offerings, customer service, management and staff, service and facilities, professional development, environmental sustainability, cultural and social responsibility as well as involvement and contribution to the tourism industry on a local, state and national level.

Established in December 2003, Crown Promenade Hotel features 465 contemporary and stylish rooms including 18 studios and 3 suites. Designed to be functional and for relaxation, all rooms offer magnificent city or bay views. Facilities include Melbourne's only purpose-built and fully flexible Crown Conference Centre, Mesh restaurant, Tonic bar and The Deck, a leisure centre with a 25-metre infinity indoor heated pool plus a caf'e with wireless internet technology.

Since opening, Crown Promenade Hotel has hosted more than 2000 residential conferences and meetings. Major events included the 2006 World Youth and Student Travel Industry Conference (WYSTC), the official games host hotel for the Melbourne 2005 20th Deaflympic Games and the official venue for the 17th Annual Meetings Industry Association of Australia (MIAA) Conference in 2004.

"It is an honour to receive the award just a few weeks before we celebrate our third anniversary. This wonderful accolade from the industry is a fabulous recognition for our staff's effort and commitment to excellence in customer service", said Greg Moore, General Manager of Crown Promenade Hotel.

Peter Crinis, Executive General Manager of Crown Hotels added," We are really pleased to be recognised for our dedication and continuing efforts to promote tourism at both local and international levels. As part of the Crown Entertainment Complex, we have an extensive range of facilities and services, to create that extra special and unique experience for our guests."

As a Victorian Tourism Awards winner, Crown Promenade Hotel is now automatically entered into the 2006 Australian Tourism Awards to be held in Sydney in February, to compete against the best in each State and Territory.
