. February 20, 2009

HONG KONG, China, February 19, 2009 - It's "time for change" in the Americas, as WORLDHOTELS announces expansion with three important new affiliate hotels in the United States, Argentina and Brazil.

All joining as new affiliate hotels of the Deluxe Collection are The Empire Hotel in New York, Hotel Madero in Buenos Aires, and the newly restored Hotel Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro.

Located on West 63rd Street directly across the street from the lush greenery of Dante Park, The Empire Hotel occupies its own private corner nestled between two New York City legendary landmarks - Lincoln Center and Central Park.

With a total of 420 rooms and suites, The Empire Hotel has been a historical part of the city for over 100 years and is newly renovated, restoring the historic address to its former glory, complete with rooftop pool, acclaimed restaurant and chic rooftop bar overlooking the city's legendary landmarks and unobstructed views of the Broadway and Columbus Avenue gateway to the upper west side of New York City.

The Empire Hotel is fully equipped with wireless high speed internet and offers unique indoor and outdoor venues for business and private events with unparalleled views of the Hudson River, Lincoln Center, Central Park and the city. The meeting space is designed in a mid century modernistic style to complement the majesty of the Lincoln Center.

The Empire Hotel provides international travelers with four choices of restaurants, bars and lounges. Lobby Bar is a hip and romantic outlet that offers signature cocktails and an extensive selection of outstanding wines and champagnes. Open seasonally May through September to the public, The Pool Deck refreshes guests in the rooftop plunge pool with the warmth of the sun and exclusive amenities. Its menu has refreshing food and beverage options as well as spa services. Spread over 8,000 square foot on the 12th floor of the hotel, The Rooftop serves some of the hottest cocktails in town and savory bites such as Lobster Rolls. Centre Cut's cuisine interprets the classics for a modern audience with nightly performances. The restaurant serves an extensive assortment of succulent "center cuts" of meat and fish in a contemporary style.

Hotel Madero is one of the best designed hotels in South America with a more than 1 to 1 guest service ratio. Newly built 4 years ago, the hotel is located in Puerto Madero and just 4 minutes from the center of the most modern neighborhood in Buenos Aires, with easy access to the river, historic attractions, and entertainment.

Each of the hotel's 169 guestrooms and 28 suites features WiFi, work desk with high-speed internet access, LCD television and deluxe mini-bar, incorporating a Madero Spa & Health Club and state-of-the-art meeting space for up to 350 guests.

The hotel offers 24-hour room service and 3 restaurants and bars, including Red Resto, White Bar and Blue Sky Bar. Guests can enjoy a variety of dining options with Chef Steven Jung's creative menus accompanied by prestigious Argentine wines from the exclusive private wine cellar at Red Resto. White Bar serves business breakfast and snacks in the afternoons and evenings. Blue Sky Bar opens in the summer and serves refreshing juices and fruits on the rooftop terrace.

Hotel Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro is a historic hotel which has just reopened following a three-year renovation. The hotel offers just 44 luxurious suites and rooms with private patios and terraces and spectacular views over lush gardens to the city.

Its sophisticated tropical design splendidly evokes the culture and origins of colonial Brazil using natural materials such as cotton and linen, coconut and banana fibres, tropical woods, Portuguese tiles and burnt cement.

Highlights include the sumptuous LE SPA for pampering and rejuvenation treatments, The Tereze, which offers "cuisine du mode" by executive chef Damien Montecer and the atmospheric Bar dos Descasados, located under the arches of what was once a slaves quarters with splendid sunset views from the balcony.

"We are delighted to welcome these three affiliate hotels to our Americas portfolio. We now have an even more extensive hotels network providing a wide variety of hotels with character and unique identity for business and leisure travellers visiting the Americas" said Roland Jegge, Vice President Asia/Pacific of WORLDHOTELS.

Fully focused on properties with character and distinction, WORLDHOTELS now has almost 500 affiliate properties in more than 300 destinations and 70 countries worldwide.
