HOUSTON, TX, November 7, 2006. Highly regarded for his endeavors in the upscale hotel segment, John Remmers, a two-decade veteran of the hospitality industry, has been appointed General Manager of Hotel ZaZa Houston. Remmers is a critical hire on the pre-opening team as the former Warwick Hotel, for which he previously served as General Manager, nears the final stages of a multi-million transformation to Hotel ZaZa. This massive endeavor is infusing the landmark Museum District building originally built in 1926 with the Dallas-based ZaZa brand's playfully sophisticated design, service and amenity offerings. In addition to 315 premium guestrooms and suites, property highlights will include Monarch, a destination restaurant and lounge, "Urban Oasis" relaxation area with fitness center, 10,000-square-foot "ZaSpa" and rooftop pool, plus 17,000 square feet of meeting and event space. He was quickly promoted to Director of Housekeeping at the property and then to Front Office Manager at the former Four Seasons Inn on the Park, also in Houston. In 1990, Remmers was hired by The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta, GA as Assistant Rooms Manager and then moved to the brand's Kansas City, MO property to serve as Executive Assistant Manger, Rooms Division.

Prior to his position at The Warwick, Remmers was employed by Dolce International Hotel, Resort & Conference Destinations as General Manager for the pre-opening of Dolce Zermatt Resort & Spa in Midway, UT and General Manager for Dolce Lakeway Inn & Resort in Austin, TX. The Four Diamond, 239-room Lakeway property with full service marina, four golf courses, spa, tennis club, sailing academy and 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space ranked second in the company for guest satisfaction scores.

Remmers has also held the positions of General Manager for the Omni Jacksonville Hotel in Jacksonville, FL, Resident Manager for the Omni Mandalay Hotel, Las Colinas in Irving, TX, and Executive Assistant Manager for the Ocean Grand Hotel & Resort in Palm Beach, FL, Don Shula's Hotel & Golf Resort in Miami, FL and Omni Charleston Place Hotel/Orient- Express in Charleston, SC. He is a member the Houston Hotel and Lodging Association and the Austin Hotel and Motel Association and was the first Vice President of the Jacksonville Hotel and Motel Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau.
