DECEMBER 3, 2008. Travelers to St Barths in the French West Indies this winter will discover the region's first and only Carita Spa, which debuts December 15th when the 14-room legendary hilltop hide-away Hotel Carl Gustaf re-opens its doors following an extensive refurbishment program.

Designed to revitalize the spirit and rejuvenate the body, Boutique Spa by Carita at Hotel Carl Gustaf encompasses 2,150-sq. ft. of stunningly styled space, offering a full menu of treatments, enriched with the signature approach of the legendary Carita sisters of Paris, who treated celebrated patrons such as Catherine Deneuve and Paloma Picasso. Now Carl Gustaf resort guests and visitors alike can indulge in an extensive list of exclusive beautifying services, as well as the latest regimens of health and revitalization therapies. With its unrivalled approach to spa and beauty, services are tailored uniquely to the needs of each individual. The Carita Spa at Hotel Carl Gustaf promises nothing less than a heavenly escape into a secluded realm of supreme tranquility.

This new duplex Boutique Spa offers a tranquil retreat within a retreat, perched above Gustavia's sparkling azure harbor. The first level features the "HydroZone," where guests can benefit from water's natural soothing and healing properties by indulging in the Zone's amenities, including a double Hammam; an Essential Oils Shower, combining water and aromatherapy; a foot Pebble Bath, where smooth stones massage and rejuvenate tired feet; and an Ice Fountain, for alternating cold dips from Jacuzzi or steam-room sessions. The HydroZone leads to an outdoor pool with Jacuzzi and a resistance-current jet for strength-building swims, and is surrounded by chaise lounges with breathtaking vistas. The Spa's state-of-the-art Fitness Center - replete with plasma screen TV - is flooded with natural light and a view of the resort's new waterfall. Offering cardio and resistance training equipment, one-on-one training sessions can also be arranged.
