Waldorf=Astoria Appoints Joel Freyberg Executive Director

. October 14, 2008

NEW YORK, NY, October 12, 2006. Eric Long, General Manager of The Waldorf=Astoria, has appointed hotelier Joel Freyberg as Executive Director of The Waldorf Towers.

Freyberg's responsibilities include maintaining the reputation of this exclusive hotel as the preferred New York residence for the world's elite; from the President of the United States to crown princes, movie stars and rock royalty. Freyberg and his dedicated team will of course continue to provide the exemplary service, for which the hotel is world famous, to every guest and permanent resident of The Waldorf Towers.

Freyberg comes to The Waldorf Towers with 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, having worked at some of New York City's top hotels including The Carlyle, The Mayfair Regent Hotel, The Sheraton New York and Towers, The Michelangelo Hotel and The Halloran House. Freyberg joins The Waldorf Towers from his position as Hotel Manager of the Hotel Gansevoort in the Meatpacking District.

Freyberg was responsible for introducing traditional five star levels of service and seamlessly combining this with the contemporary styling and atmosphere of a 21st century boutique hotel. During his time, the Gansevoort won rave reviews from the media and quickly established itself as one of the most popular modern hotels in the city.

His background of working at hotels, whether boutique or 'grande dame,' gives Freyberg a unique insight into what today's travelers expect when they check into a hotel, whether they be a head of state or a music industry mogul. It is this ability to predict what a guest wants, combined with an eye for detail and an innate understanding of the true meaning of 'luxury' that makes Freyberg the ideal appointment for Executive Director of The Waldorf Towers.

Freyberg holds a degree in Marketing and Retail Management as well as a BA in Business Administration from New York University. "I am personally excited to work with Joel as he is a skilled hotelier with refined tastes and a passion for exceptional customer service," says Long. "His commitment to excellence is something I have always admired and I am confident that he will be a well-respected and valued member of The Waldorf team."

The Waldorf=Astoria, an official New York City landmark since 1993, has been an internationally recognized symbol of elegance and grace for more than 100 years. As such the Art Deco masterpiece, occupying an entire city block of midtown Manhattan, is at the epicenter of the city's cultural, commercial, social and political life. A grand hotel in the grandest of traditions, with cosmopolitan restaurants, bustling lounges and bars, Plus One Fitness Center and Spa, more than 60,000 square feet of high-tech equipped function space, state-of-the-art business center and intriguing boutiques, it is a microcosm of the city it has served so well for so long. 301 Park Avenue, New York.
