Your 15 minutes of Fame!

As a hotelier, you want to put your best foot forward when it comes to showcasing your property.  Naturally, via media outlets such as print and the web, there are many ways to do this.  But what about television?  Is it worth the trouble and effort?

Just like anything else you put your name in, TV requires careful consideration.  While this medium is visually appealing and reaches wide audiences and demographics, it is your responsibility to ensure that your message comes across effectively, without being lured into “bad publicity” stories by eager producers.

By being methodical and a little cautious, you can achieve excellent exposure on television that will help you brand your hotel, and you'll read more about this in my article "Calling All Hotels!  Hosting a Television Broadcast Visit" in this week's Hotel Business Review.  Have your public relations professional define the right angles to pitch to the media; be it a unique package, a new restaurant, or something different like eco-friendly floors or furniture.

See if your hotel has what it takes to be on TV.  Can your public relations professionals leverage your property’s newsworthy angles and present them in the best way to the TV producers?

Read my column on how to achieve your 15 (well, more like 3-4 minutes) of fame!

Sincerely,

Didi Lutz

By Judith L. Singer, Ed.D., ISHC, President & Co-Owner, Health Fitness Dynamics, Inc. (HFD)

While the supply of spas has been on a steady rise for many years, the growth has slowed and this is probably good because there are some challenges that need to be addressed... The supply has out-paced the demand, the labor pool from management to service providers is quite limited, and there isn’t enough reliable economic information. These may be “symptoms” that need further examination in order to address any “health” issues that could impinge on the well-being of our industry...

The Weight of the Wait... Time is Money!

By Roberta Nedry, President, Hospitality Excellence, Inc.

How many times does the guest feel like they are the one waiting versus the wait staff waiting on them? What are the timing issues that make or break a service encounter? How does timing impact the overall guest experience as a service factor? Consider making time to analyze ‘time’ with employees who have “time” with guests. The ‘weight’ of the wait in the world of service delivery should not be underweight or overweight...
