Ms. Didi Lutz
Ms. Didi Lutz
Didi Lutz is a public relations professional specializing in hospitality, travel and tourism communications.  Ms. Lutzs' first contact with the hospitality industry was at the Four Seasons Palm Beach, FL in Catering and Conference Services, until she moved to Boston in 2001 to pursue graduate work at Boston University College of Communication, where she earned a Master’s in Public Relations.

Prior to starting her own business in February 2005, she was the Director of Communications for the Hotel Commonwealth, a 150-room luxury property in the heart of Boston’s Kenmore Square, steps away from Fenway Park and Boston University.  She was with the AAA Four Diamond hotel since March 2003, and assisted with the property’s opening process during its final stages.

As the primary media contact, Ms. Lutz was responsible for obtaining placement in a variety of publications including the Sunday New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Boston Globe Magazine, Forbes.com, Boston Business Journal, Boston Magazine, Forbes FYI, Travel & Leisure, National Geographic Traveler’s A-List, The Shuttle Sheet, American Way, Elite Traveler, Delta’s SKY Magazine, Business 2.0, Fodor’s, Frommer’s and many hotel trade publications such as Hotel Business, Meeting News, Hospitality Design, Hotel Design and Lodging Hospitality.

Within the first year of the hotel’s opening, Ms. Lutz established the media relationship that led to worldwide recognition for the property as one of Ten Best New Business Hotels by Forbes.com.

After opening her own business, Ms. Lutz expanded her client list in New England.  She worked with the historic Century House, the oldest continuously operating inn on Nantucket, and the Four Diamond Hotel Providence in Rhode Island’s theatre and entertainment district, along with the property’s restaurants.  She has also worked on various other initiatives, including executing a media relations plan for the Provincetown Office of Tourism in cooperation with a Boston-based public relations agency.  More recently, Ms. Lutz’s reputation expanded internationally when she worked with the four-star boutique Hotel Heritage in the charming historic city of Bruges in Belgium.

Ms. Lutz has also worked with consumer products and services including Snip-its, the fastest growing children’s salon in the nation, and Lilly Gold, a designer of transformable baby solutions.

Ms. Lutz’s passion remains in travel and hospitality PR, and specializes in boutique properties, hotel openings, and special destination and tourism projects.  She believes in practicing public relations strategically.  Her focus is to create valuable media opportunities and obtain press coverage that aligns with the client’s overall goals, adding to the bottom line, rather than obtaining random publicity that has little effect on the organization’s objectives.

In her spare time, Ms. Lutz enjoys writing about the public relations profession.  She has been on the Editorial Board of HotelExecutive.com and was the first PR contributor on Hotel Business Review since 2004 offering PR related advice to hoteliers, and is considered a leading expert in hospitality public relations and marketing.  Ms. Lutz’s published articles have been distributed to undergraduate and graduate classes at Boston University’s College of Communication, where she has been invited to speak several times.  She has also been a PRSSA panel speaker for students interested in Hotel Public Relations. She lives with her husband Robert, a 15-year hospitality veteran, and their daughter Anna Sophia in South Florida.
