Swissotel Chicago to Celebrate Its 25th Anniversary
ZURICH - July 16, 2013 - Opened in 1988, the Swissotel Chicago will celebrate its 25th anniversary all year long. Starting the 1st of August special events, exclusive packages with extraordinary value and community activities will mark the jubilee of the Downtown Chicago hotel.
Swissotel Chicago is a AAA Four Diamond hotel offering 661 guestrooms and suites, a newly renovated lobby and event space, as well as a state-of-the-art, 38,000 square foot Event Centre. On August 1st, guests at the hotel will enjoy gourmet anniversary cupcakes in the lobby throughout the day, followed by complimentary champagne and appetizers in Amuse from 4:30-6:00pm. A special anniversary cocktail as well as a $25 food-and-beverage pairing will also debut that night in Amuse and be available through December 31st. Starting on August 1st, the hotel will be randomly giving away 25 complimentary room upgrades at check-in through the rest of the year. One lucky winner from social media will be picked to win a weekend stay at the rate Swissotel Chicago offered 25 years ago, which was approximately $37.00 per night.
The Swissotel Chicago was designed by famous American architect Harry Weese (1915 - 1998) who had an important role in 20th century modernism and historic preservation. He studied under the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was also influenced by Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen, whom he met at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan.
